Bethesda Announces E3 Conference, Fallout 4 Rumors Explode

Fallout 4 has been rumored for quite some time. But every time new evidence shows up, there’s something equal to counter it. But sometimes the most indirect evidence is all you need.

Bethesda has announced that it will be hosting its first-ever E3 conference during E3, as seen in the image above. It’s scheduled for June 14th, two days before the show opens its doors. Judging by the image, it’ll be host at the Dolby Theater, a massive venue in Hollywood capable of seating over 3,300 people.

What’s so significant about this announcement is that there’s no way Bethesda would hold its own press conference unless it had a lot of material to cover. Currently, Bethesda is only confirmed to be publishing Doom 4 (id Software), BattleCry (Battlecry Studios), and console ports of The Elder Scrolls Online (ZeniMax Online Studios). There’s also the inevitable DLC such as that of The Evil Within, but none of this content is quite enough to fill out a conference that is expected to run at least an hour.

So, for all intents and purposes you should expect either a big new IP—which is risky—or the next iteration of The Elder Scrolls or Fallout. Many are pointing to Fallout since The Elder Scrolls has had a major release more recently (2011’s Skyrim).

While not confirmation, you really shouldn’t be surprised to hear of at least one or two big announcements during the show. The only negative side to this is we’re all going to have to wait until June 14th, which means that unless there’s a big leak there is unlikely to be any new material coming from Bethesda in the next four months.
