Destiny’s Upcoming Expansions Revealed, Comet: Plague of Darkness Arriving in September

An image supposedly captured from a Bungie production meeting has found its way online. The image contains the roadmap for post-launch content of Destiny, and it reveals information previously unknown.

There are several packages that are shown in the image. For one, Episode 2: House of Wolves has been leaked and will arrive on March 10th. It will include 3 Story Missions, 1 Strike, 1 Raid, and 4 PvP maps.

A full six months later Comet: Plague of Darkness will land. This is the first major expansion for the title with a release date of September 2015, and it includes 12 Story Missions, 4 Strikes, 1 Raid, 1 New Location, and 6 PvP Maps. It will also come packaged with 2 new weapon types and new sub-classes.

This is the leaked image.

The final two packages don’t have estimated release dates, but are called Vox and Forge of Gods. While Vox is known to have 3 Story Missions, 2 Strikes, 1 Raid, and an unknown number of PvP maps, Forge of Gods has no details noted on the slide.

One thing gathered from all this information is that outside of Comet‘s new Hive Ship location, there appear to be no new planets or moons being added to the game in the next year. Instead, the game will push more group content into its existing world.

The other important piece of information is just how expensive the game is going to be to play in the long term. The Dark Below was priced at $20, and there will be about two of these per year in addition to a major expansion that will certainly cost even more ($40?). If you’re going to buy everything it’s going to cost you not much less than a full blown MMO subscription.

Whatever the case may be, Bungie’s 10 year support for Destiny is in full swing. If you’re enjoying the game, you have a lot to look forward to.
