Phillies Pitcher First To No-Hit Cubs In 50 Years

The Cubs were no hit by Phillies ace Cole Hamels on Saturday night. But let’s cut right to the chase and give you some fun-filled factoids:

Hamels is the first pitcher to no-hit the Cubs since Sandy Koufax’s perfect game on Sept. 9, 1965.
The no-hitter streak ran 7,921 games
It’s the first no-hitter at Wrigley Field since Milt Pappas pitched one for the Cubbies in 1972.
Odubel Herrera is Hamels’ favorite teammate right now.

There are multiple no-hitters in baseball almost every year. So why do we talk about this one? Not only because of the facts above, but because Herrera made one hell of a catch to end the game and save the no-hitter.
