Last year, CBS ordered Supergirl straight-to-series and began preparations for the pilot episode that was filmed earlier this year. CBS followed that up with a full season order for Supergirl after only a single episode.
However, Supergirl is now in full production for its first season. To mark the occasion, Supergirl herself, Melissa Benoist appears in a new behind-the-scenes video alongside her co-stars, Chyler Leigh and David Harewood. Judging from the action glimpsed in the video, Harewood’s Hank Henshaw and Leigh’s Alexandra Danvers are “testing” Supergirl against live weapons in a remote location.
The Supergirl TV series also stars Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, and Jeremy Jordan as Winslow Schott. Peter Facinelli was recently cast as Maxwell Lord, a character who was associated with the Justice League before his villainous turn in the comics. Former TV Superman, Dean Cain and former Supergirl movie star Helen Slater are also signed to appear in Supergirl as characters who have not yet been revealed.
Supergirl will debut on Monday, October 26 on CBS.
