Lucifer & Minority Report Get Series Orders From Fox

Next Monday, Fox will officially unveil its fall TV lineup. But the new dramas have already been revealed.

Fox has ordered Lucifer and Minority Report to series, joining the already ordered Scream Queens, The Frankenstein Code and Rosewood for next season. Of those five dramas, only Rosewood is without any sci-fi, horror or fantasy elements.

Lucifer was the dark horse among Fox’s pilots, but it beat out the more heavily favored family drama, Studio City for a slot on the schedule. Californication creator Tom Kapinos adapted Lucifer from the Vertigo comic book series about the infamous fallen angel. This incarnation of Lucifer first appeared in Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman as the dissatisfied Lord of Hell who abandoned his post.

Tom Ellis (pictured above) plays Lucifer in the TV series, which finds the former King of Hell living in Los Angeles. Naturally, Fox added a crime procedural element to Lucifer by having the title character help the LAPD “punish criminals.” Lauren German, Rachael Harris, DB Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Nicholas Gonzalez and Scarlett Estevez co-star in the series.

Where Lucifer was the underdog, Minority Report was all but assured a spot on Fox’s lineup. Minority Report is a direct sequel to the feature film adaptation of the same name that was directed by Steven Spielberg in 2002. The series takes place ten years after the movie as one of the three Pre-cogs gets a new purpose in life by teaming up with a female detective in Washington DC.

Meagan Good and Stark Sands headline Minority Report alongside Wilmer Valderrama, Daniel London, Laura Regan, Li Jun Li and Zhane Hall.
