Overlord: Fellowship of Evil Coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC This Year

Overlord: Fellowship of Evil has been announced for the PS4, Xbox One and PC, with it looking set to be a big departure for the series.

The last mainline Overlord game released in 2009 in the form of Overlord II, but six years on and developer Codemasters has given the franchise a makeover, with Fellowship of Evil set to be a top-down, four-player multiplayer game.

The change may not be a welcome one for fans of the Overlord series, which typically featured a third-person camera and a focused single-player story mode, though Overlord II did tinker with multiplayer in the form of online co-op and competitive game types.

Judging from the few glimpses of the game shown in its reveal trailer, all signs point to this being a Diablo-esque dungeon crawler, with the series’ minions also being notably absent. However, Codemasters confirms their return on the game’s official site, saying: “Our cruel critters return. Call upon your Minions in battle and build them into mighty champions to do your destructive bidding. “For the Master!”” But despite the minions returning, it appears that they won’t have an Overlord to answer to this time around, with players instead controlling “undead servants of the dark arts, resurrected in the absence of a true Overlord, to bring evil back to a world overrun by the forces of good.”

Overlord: Fellowship of Evil will release on August 25th, 2015. Watch the reveal trailer below:
