Legendary TV Picks Up Lazarus

Greg Rucka and Michael Lark’s Lazarus may find new life on television.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Legendary TV has picked up the rights to adapt Lazarus for television with Rucka attached to write the pilot episode. Matt Tolmach is also attached to Lazarus as an executive producer.

First published by Image Comics in 2013, Lazarus takes place in a futuristic world in which the ruling families are protected by genetically altered humans who are practically immune to death. The main character of the series is Forever Carlyle, a “Lazarus” who “uses force and deception to keep her family and their interests safe.”

Rucka’s graphic novel White Out was previously adapted as a feature film starring Kate Beckinsale, while his Queen & Country novel series is in development as a movie at Fox.

The potential Lazarus TV series doesn’t have a network attached to it, but given the fact that Legendary TV’s first two projects have ended up at Netflix and Amazon, it might indicate that Lazarus has a better shot at ending up on one of the streaming services.
