Adrianne Palicki Promoted To Series Regular on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Earlier this season on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Adrianne Palicki made her first guest appearance on the series as Agent Bobbi Morse aka Mockingbird and provided a much needed spark for the series. Apparently the show’s creative team has realized that as well.

Marvel and ABC quietly confirmed that Palicki has been promoted to the main cast of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in a lengthy press release about the upcoming midseason premiere. As Bobbi Morse, Palicki has the unique distinction of being the only character on the series who is actually playing an Avenger. Although Mockingbird has yet to meet the Avengers in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe.

Bobbi Morse was created in 1971 by Gerry Conway and Barry Windsor Smith as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent before she took on the costumed identity of Mockingbird in 1980 and eventually became an Avenger.

Palicki is best known for her starring roles in Friday Night Lights and G.I. Joe: Retaliation, in addition to her turn as the title character in the unaired Wonder Woman pilot.

With the promotion, Palicki will probably be sticking around through at least the end of the second season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC. But the description of the midseason premiere teases an agenda for Mockingbird that conflicts with the other members of her team.

“Bobbi (Palicki) and Mack (Henry Simmons) begin the next phase of a plan which seems to have grave repercussions for Coulson and his team, who are unaware that there’s another mysterious force moving against them. And as Hunter (Nick Blood) is forced to make the biggest choice of his life, Coulson will find his mission threatened by this shocking endgame.”

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 will resume on March 3.
