Kevin MacDonald Dives Into ‘Black Sea’ on The B-Movies Podcast
Nazi gold and submarines await you on a very special bonus episode of The B-Movies Podcast! This week, we are joined by our first-ever Academy Award-winning guest (after in-depth interviews with nominees Phil Alden Robinson and Dan Gilroy). Kevin MacDonald won the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature in 2000 for One Day in September, and he’s coming back to theaters this weekend with Black Sea, a new thriller starring Jude Law (Hugo) as a submarine captain enlisted to salvage a shipment of gold that was lost during World War II. Black Sea co-stars Ben Mendelsohn (The Dark Knight Rises) and Scoot McNairy (Gone Girl), and opens in theaters this weekend.
Ever wanted to know how it smells on a submarine? Or where Oscar winners keep their Oscar? You’ll find out in this bonus episode, and also learn more about Kevin MacDonald’s upcoming Elvis Presley biopic Last Train to Memphis, and the great submarine movies that inspired Black Sea (and at least one that Kevin MacDonald had never heard of).
Is Down Periscope the best submarine movie ever? You’ll find out on The B-Movies Podcast Presents: Kevin MacDonald!
