Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Adds Edward James Olmos

For the next seven weeks, Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is off for its midseason break while “Agent Carter” fills the void. But when “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” returns, a genre veteran will added to the mix.

Marvel.com has announced that Edward James Olmos will portray Robert Gonzales in “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. later this year. However, the announcement was light on details about who Gonzales is, noting only that his debut “will have massive repercussions for Director Coulson and his team.”

Olmos headlined the critically acclaimed “Battlestar Galactica” remake for four seasons on Syfy. He is also well known for his roles in Blade Runner, Stand and Deliver, “Miami Vice” and “The Burning Season.”

Marvel Head of TV, Jeph Loeb said that “Edward James Olmos brings an amazing gravitas to any role he inhabits, something we knew we needed for Robert Gonzales. When Olmos first appears on our series, everyone will have to take notice–including our favorite Agents.”

“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 2 will resume on Tuesday, March 3.
