Fat Pizza’s Paul Fenech Arrested In Taxi Assault

Australia’s favourite portrayer of the modern bogan, Paul Fenech, has been arrested for the alleged assault of a Sydney taxi driver.

The Fat Pizza star was apprehended in the Sydney CBD late last month, according to a report from The Daily Telegraph.

Fenech last week pulled out of reality TV show Dancing With The Stars, citing movie commitments and a bad knee via Facebook, contradicting comments from Channel Seven claiming the comedian had stepped down due to a “private matter”.

“Sorry people bailed from dancing show … Crazy busy finishing the movie and have a crack at my knee … You can’t argue with knee cartlidge (sic),” Fenech posted on Facebook along with a picture of his injured knee.

The 44-year-old will face court on October 15.

Fenech’s most recent TV comedy, Bogan Hunters, appeared on 7mate earlier this year, attracting a peak audience of 393,000 viewers in its second week before dropping to season low 232,000 in the episode 10 finale.

The ‘flanno’ and thong-toting champion of the Aussie lower class has made a name for himself producing brash comedies, including Swift & Shift Couriers and the more recent Housos, and prides himself of maintaining that image in public.

“We’re from the real fringes of Oz, we’re real people, we just get out there and have a go,” Fenech said of his Bogan Hunters crew in a May interview with News Corp.

“This is a great win for the true people of Australia. Not the fake stuff that’s out there, but the real battlers.

“I got in (to Crown Entertainment Complex) in thongs. I want to walk barefoot through Crown as a celebration of the real battlers of Australia.”
