Boardwalk Empire Says Farewell In Final Season Starting In September

Nucky Thompson (led by Golden Globe winner Steve Buscemi) is back for the fifth and final season in September with a lot of new talent being added to the cast.

Joining mainstays Kelly Macdonald (“Brave”), Michael Shannon (“The Harvest”), Shea Whigham (“True Detective”), Stephen Graham (“Parade’s End”), and Paul Sparks (“Person of Interest”) is Jim True-Frost (HBO’s “Treme”) as crime fighter Eliot Ness, Matt Letscher (“Scandal”) as wealthy, politically connected businessman Joseph Kennedy, Giampiero Judica (“Inspector Nardone”) as Salvatore Maranzano, the “boss of all bosses,” and Louis Cancelmi (“The Amazing Spider-Man 2”) as Capone enforcer Mike D’Angelo.

In this season, the end of Prohibition looms and Nucky looks to legitimize himself through alliances with liquor producers, while rivals Lucky Luciano (Vincent Piazza, “Rescue Me”) and Meyer Lansky (Anatol Yusef, “Southcliffe”) seek to consolidate their power in the wake of Arnold Rothstein’s (Michael Stuhlbarg, “Blue Jasmine”) death and eliminate all competition, by any means necessary.

Nominated for seven Primetime Emmy Awards this year, the season premiere of “Boardwalk Empire” begins on Sunday, September 7th at 9pm on HBO Canada. Subscribers can also catch-up on Season 4 now on TMN GO, Shaw Go Movie Central app, Bell TV app, Telus Optik on the go and HBO Canada OnDemand.
