Sony and thatgamecompany’s Journey Will Return on PS4

I adore Journey. And really, who doesn’t? People who haven’t played it, that’s who. Those folks will be given a chance to experience what many considered to be 2012’s best game very soon, because according to the PlayStation Blog, Journey is coming to PS4.

Thatgamecompany creative director Jenova Chen made the announcement, noting that Journey‘s growth and continued popularity since its PS3 release has been “quite a ride.”  He had the following to say about how and why the PS4 version was made possible.

Thanks to the many referrals of our players over the years, we’ve seen a steady flow of new players discovering the game and a community of veterans helping them along the way. Many players who bought a PS4 wrote us wondering if they will be able to experience Journey one day.

Today we are happy to share that a whole new generation of players will experience the wonder of Journey when it comes to PlayStation 4 later this year.

Thanks to the heartfelt efforts of fellow developers Tricky Pixels, players new and old alike will share in the beloved Journey experience in visually stunning 1080p. More details about Journey’s release on PlayStation 4 are in the works for future announcement.

If you’re not sure what all the hubbub is about, go check out the game on YouTube or try the PS3 demo — it truly is a sight to behold. Beyond that, the experience you’ll have over its sub-three-hour duration is one of wondrous and divine proportion.

Additionally, it was revealed that Giant Sparrow’s Unfinished Swan will also make it to PS4, with Armature Studio handling the port. Release dates were not revealed for either game, but if you haven’t played them before, you’ll definitely want to try them now.
