VIDEO: Sin City: A Dame to Kill For Trailer Gets the Band Back Together

It's been nine years since Sin City — and it doesn't look like anything's improved in Frank Miller's crime-riddled, rain-drenched metropolis in the intervening decade.

So if you like your angry anti-heroes, femme fatales and mustache-twirling villains bathed in starkly-contrasting black and white with splashes of red (usually blood), enjoy the trailer posted to Crave movie site /Film for director Robert Rodriguez and creator Frank Miller's follow-up Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

While the movies don't completely conform to Miller's signature comic series, Dame roughly covers the second Sin City graphic novel, with a few new stories inserted to flesh out his gritty, usually depressing noir world of bad people, bad deeds and a whole lotta bad luck.

Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Mickey Rourke, Powers Boothe and Bruce Willis all return from the 2005 original, along with newcomers Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Brolin, Eva Green, Dennis Haysbert and a whole bunch more.  In fact, the trailer's so jam-packed that we don't even get a glimpse of promised guest star cameos like Jeremy Piven and Lady Gaga.

But the sequel does promise to deliver on what most people are going to Sin City for in the first place: a super-stylized atheistic that may be the closest we've ever seen to a comic book brought to life on screen.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For hits U.S. theaters Aug. 22.
