Warner Bros. Developing 9 DC Comics Movies?

You have to admit we’ve reached a fascinating era in geek culture when The Wall Street Journal is dropping comic book movie scoops like they’re hot. Earlier this week we learned from the venerable publication that Zack Snyder is directing the Justice League movie as soon as Batman vs. Superman wraps, and now they’ve revealed that Warner Bros. may have no less than nine DC comic book adaptations currently in development.

Of course, “in development” is a relative term. Wonder Woman has supposedly been in development for years but it’s not like we’ve actually seen anything come of that. With so many comic books available to them under the DC imprint, it’s actually surprising that they’re “only” working on nine of them, particularly when you consider that DC also owns comics with the Vertigo label that would compete in other parts of the motion picture market.

We do know that Warner Bros. is currently working on an adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman with Joseph Gordon-Levitt attached, and now there’s a movie version of Fables in the works with A Royal Affair director Nikolaj Arcel on board to direct. But what else is out there? Another solo Batman movie? Probably. A Green Lantern reboot? Possibly. The long-rumored Lobo adaptation? Eh… could be. Ambush Bug? Well… probably not.
