Carla Gugino Moves Into ‘Wayward Pines’ At Fox

In 2014, director M. Night Shyamalan will get a shot at rebuilding his reputation with the upcoming Fox miniseries, “Wayward Pines.” And now Shyamalan has cast one of leading female roles in the project.

According to Deadline, Carla Gugino has signed on to “Wayward Pines” as Kate Hewson, a Secret Service veteran living in Wayward Pines.

Based upon Blake Crouch’s novel “Pines,” the story of “Wayward Pines” focuses on Secret Service agent Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon), who comes to town looking for two missing federal agents but finds a dangerous mystery instead. Gugino’s character, Kate is said to be a former lover of Ethan’s and that the two still have very obvious feelings for each other despite Ethan’s marriage to another woman.

Gugino has made numerous appearances on TV, including  “Spin City,” “Chicago Hope” and as the lead character on the short-lived “Karen Sisco” and “Threshold” (pictured above). Gugino also guest starred on “Entourage” and “Californication” in addition to her co-starring role in “Political Animals” on USA. Additionally, Gugino has appeared  in several films including Snake Eyes, Sin City, Night at the Museum, Watchmen, Righteous Kill and Sucker Punch.

A premiere date for “Wayward Pines” has not been announced, but it may be held to summer or fall 2014.
