Florida Woman Rings Up $1,800 Of Stuff For Just $3.70 At Walmart Self-Checkout

I am not a fan of self-checkouts at all, and that’s mainly because something always goes wrong and I need an employee regardless. But something tells me Cheyenne Amber West is a big fan of ringing up stuff herself. Why? Because West was able to give herself quite the discount.

The Indian River Country woman was arrested earlier this week after it was discovered that she rung up $1,800 of electronics for just $3.70 at Walmart. The 25-year-old was caught by a loss prevention officer after he caught her and her mother pick-out an HP Omen computer, video game controllers and other stuff and changing the price.

Here’s how West did it: West simply covered the barcodes of the electronics she wanted with barcode stickers of items from the clearance section and then just rung herself up. That’s pretty much it. The bad news for West was that she was caught on camera changing the barcode stickers. But West had quite the explanation for her bad deeds.

“I am just trying to get gifts for my son that I cannot afford,” West told a Florida deputy. “The computer is for my husband. Since he just got me a Coach purse, I figured he deserved something nice as well.”

As for West’s mother, who wasn’t charged, here’s what she had to say:

“I know what my daughter was doing, but I never walked out with anything, and she is just trying to get gifts for her son.”

I get this lady just wants to give her family a good Christmas, but boy, this is probably not the best way to go about it.

West is now being charged with felony grand theft and misdemeanor shoplifting.
