Do anyone of you know who Katie Quackenbush is? She’s an aspiring country singer who also goes by the name Katie Layne. No? Doesn’t ring a bell? Yeah, we didn’t think so. But guess what? Quackenbush has been charged with attempted murder after critically wounding 54-year-old homeless man Gerald Melton. Let us explain.
According to police, the 26-year-old Nashville woman and a friend were sitting in Quackenbush’s Porsche and listening to loud when the exhaust fumes and music disturbed Melton and his sleep. And that’s when Melton asked Quackenbush to move her car. But apparently Quackenbush didn’t like that request because an argument followed and she shot Melton. Twice. And then fled the scene.
But Jesse Quackenbush, her father, says his daughter was only trying to defend herself after being accosted by Melton, claiming that the homeless man made sexual remarks towards her and her friend and then threatened to kill them both. According to Jesse, his daughter then grabbed her gun and got out of her SUV to escort her friend to her vehicle.
Jesse adds that the homeless man walked towards the women and that’s when Quackenbush fired two “warning” shots. Two warning shots that struck Melton, but Jesse claims his daughter had no idea the man was hit by the gunfire. Sure thing, dad.
Melton remains in the hospital in critical condition.
Oh, and remember how we told you that Quackenbush is an aspiring country singer? Well she also likes to rap. Take a look at the video below for proof of that and prepare to cringe.
