Blinky Bill Is Heading To The Big Screen

Australia’s favourite cheeky marsupial, Blinky Bill, is heading to the big screen once more with the announcement that Screen Australia has green-lit The Blinky Bill Movie.

Australian actor and star of “True Blood” and Not Suitable For Children, Ryan Kwanten, will voice the loveable Koala as he sets out from Greenpatch home to find his missing father. The movie is set to include the original cast of characters, including Nutsy and Jacko, while Blinky will also meet some new friends along the way.

The film will be written by Fin Edquist (“Rescue Special Ops”, “McLeod’s Daughters”), produced by Barbara Stephen and directed by Tim Burton‘s former art director, Deane Taylor. According to Screen Australia, “the film will reacquaint old and engage new audiences with the iconic Australian koala.”

This will be Blinky’s second turn on the big screen, following the 1992 film Blinky Bill when the Koala and his bush friends set out on an adventure to protect their homes from human destruction.

A release date for the new Blinky Bill film has not yet been announced.
