Comic-Con 2016 | The Cast of ‘MST3K’ Reveal Their Favorite New Jokes

“Wumble wumble wumble!” “Oh-ho, you’re kidding me!” “Hold that thing!” “I’ve got a tomato!”

Mark those words, dear readers, for according to the cast of the newly rebooted Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K to their friends), those are the gags that fans of the series will be quoting as much as the show’s classic standbys, like “It stinks!” and “Watch out for snakes!” and “I’m huge!”

We sat down with most of the cast of MST3K at Comic-Con 2016 to pick their brain about the upcoming series, which will debut next year on Netflix. We found that the eleventh season of the series picks up after the tenth, that the invention exchanges are back, how the ‘bots really feel about Jonah’s new character (they hate him), and which terrible – and sometimes not-so-terrible – films they dream of riffing over the course of the show. One of their picks has its own Criterion Collection Blu-ray, and one of the others won an Oscar for Best Picture.

So join film critic William Bibbiani and MST3K creator Joel Hodgson, and new cast members Jonah Ray, Hampton Yount and Baron Vaughn as they talk about the past, present and future of one of the best cut television shows ever made: Mystery Science Theater 3000!
