Larry David and HBO Announce ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ Season 9

After half-a-decade, it’s once again time to Curb Your Enthusiasm! The long awaited ninth season of Larry David’s signature comedy series has officially been confirmed by HBO.

In a statement, HBO Programming President Casey Bloys said “We’re thrilled that Larry has decided to do a new season of Curb and can’t wait to see what he has planned.” For his part, David added “In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, ‘I left, I did nothing, I returned.’”

David is best known as the co-creator of Seinfeld, the legendary NBC sitcom about “nothing.” On Curb Your Enthusiasm, David starred as a fictionalized version of himself over the course of eight seasons. That show became iconic as well, and “a Larry David moment” is now a shorthand for the series’ comedic social faux pas.

When we last saw the fictional Larry David, he was in self-imposed exile in Paris alongside his frequent sidekick, Leon (J. B. Smoove). David seemed content to let the series end on that note, and he went on to star in the HBO TV movie Clear History, which he also wrote as well.

Getting the cast together for a new season of Curb may be tricky this time, since Jeff Garlin is now starring on ABC’s The Goldbergs. But given Garlin’s importance to David’s show, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the new season was scheduled around Garlin’s availability.

At the moment, HBO has not yet set a premiere date for the new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm
