2016 L.A. Auto Show | Nissan Sentra Gets Hot with Nismo Edition

The Nissan Sentra does not bring to mind images of speed and surgical handling. Drivers picture a safe, reliable daily commute-mobile. It’s affordable family transport or a young buyer’s first foray into the Nissan family.

That’s all true until the Nismo shop gets hold of it. Nismo is the performance tuning division at Nissan. As BMW has their M badges; as Lexus has its F Sport models; as Fiat has Abarth, Nissan has Nismo. They take in the consumer cars out of Nissan’s line up and hand back drivers’ cars ready for more thrills out on the track.

The latest Nismo creation that made its way to the 2016 L.A. Auto Show is the Nissan Sentra. The tuning house took the mild-mannered, but popular Sentra and turned it into a limited edition performance ride. The top to bottom remake packs in a more aggressively styled exterior, an interior angled more toward a performance drivers wants and needs, a stiffened body structure and Nismo-only suspension tuning.

The 2017 Sentra line will still include is five consumer models, including the Sentra S, SV, SR, SR Turbo and SL. The Nismo edition will be specially ordered with options chosen online or via dealers. There’s no word yet on the official arrival date on the Sentra Nismo, exact performance specs at time of arrival or final price. However, look for Sentra Nismo to arrive mid-year.
