2016 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance: 2017 Lexus LC 500 Arrives for Duty

With the 2016 editions of Monterey Car Week, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca upon us, Crave will be on the scene to explore the worlds of elite classic automobiles and modern super cars.

Lexus is indeed going ahead and building a concept car for production — a rare occurrence anywhere in the automotive industry. Let’s all give the Japanese automaker for having the courage to do that.

After debuting at the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit earlier this year, the 2017 Lexus LC 500 arrived in at Clint Eastwood’s private golf course in Carmel by the Sea for a packed house of enthusiastic partiers during Monterey Car Week. Lexus made no deviations from the car originally promised in January.

We first got hints of what the LC 500 might look like almost four years ago with the LF-LC concept car (bottom) that Lexus teased on the auto show circuit. Many of the styling cues from the new car Lexus will sell next year grew directly from that concept.

The specs announced back in January in Detroit remain intact. The LC 500 will by rear wheel drive with a 467 horsepower V8. While clearing a luxury grand touring car, it promises to do 0-60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds.

Lexus still has not revealed an MRSP or exact release date net year for the 2017 LC 500. It’s safe to assume the car will retail for low six figures and will come with bespoke options ordered before delivery.
