Nickelback And Blue Rodeo To Play At Fort McMurray Benefit June 29th

A benefit concert is being held for those affected by the fires in Fort McMurray, and bands like Blue Rodeo as well as Nickelback have signed on to perform. Jim Cuddy will headline.

It will be held at Commonwealth Stadium on June 29th. According to CBC News, Cuddy will perform with an orchestra and his longtime band member and violinist Anne Lindsay. The singer-songwriter’s son, Devin, will also perform with his own band.

Randy Bachman, the Sadies and Alan Doyle are also going to take to the stage, along with Corb Lund and Ian Tyson. Proceeds from the “Fire Aid” concert will go to United Way, who is raising funds to help rebuilt the devastated town.

Tickets are $35, $60 and $99 and go on sale 10 a.m., Monday, May 30, and will be available through Ticketmaster, 1-855-985-5000. On the Ticketmaster website, there will also be the option to purchase tickets as donations to be given away to Fort McMurray residents.

Tim Shipton, a volunteer committee member, told the Edmonton Journal, “You really can move mountains and move aside self-interest for the greater good. It will bring together the community in support and celebration of that amazing city to the north Fort McMurray.”
