Jeff Goldblum Hosted An Entire Variety Show On Facebook

International treasure and entertainer extraordinaire Jeff Goldblum proved recently that just because most celebrities use social media as a glorified billboard, the platform offers so many more opportunities. Like what I hear you ask? Well like hosting your own variety show of course, which is exactly what the Independence Day: Resurgence star did on Wednesday night, streaming the whole thing on Facebook Live.

“I play this jazz music that drives all the kids crazy,” he said with characteristic zany humour before taking a seat at the piano to start the show. Having put on jazz shows for years now (even busting out on the ivories in an episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent, look it up), the livestream certainly showcased his love for the genre, not to mention his skill on the keys.

It wasn’t just the Jeff show, however, as he also invited former contestant on The Voice Maiya Sykes to join him onstage  for his performance of Destination Moon by Dinah Washington.

Between all the jazz though (and there was a lot of it) Goldblum also treated the audience to some games and activities, including a trivia contest with facts about Independence Day. As if that wasn’t weird enough though, nearing the end of the show he made a sandwich for Independence Day director Roland Emmerich. Because of course he did.

Raising money for Oceana and Conservation International, fans gave donations in exchange for special rewards, including a chance to attend a VIP advanced screening of Independence Day: Resurgence among others.
