Ewan McGregor Will Headline ‘Fargo’ Season 3

Fargo won’t be topping our list of top dramas this year because the third season won’t hit until next year. But the casting process has already begun and executive producer Noah Hawley has lined up his leading men!

USA Today broke the story that Ewan McGregor has been signed to play two of the leading roles in Fargo season 3. McGregor will portray two feuding brothers: Emmit and Ray Stussy. Emmitt is described as “the Parking Lot King of Minnesota.” and “a handsome, self-made real estate mogul and family man,” while Ray has the less faltering breakdown: “Balding, pot-bellied, Ray is the kind of guy who peaked in high school. Now a parole officer, Ray has a huge chip on his shoulder about the hand he’s been dealt, and he blames his brother, Emmit, for his misfortunes.””

“It’s the story of two brothers and a feud between them on some level,” Hawley told USA Today. “And the brothers are just a couple of years apart.”

Not much is known about the new season of Fargo except that it will take place in 2010, four years after the first season. It will once again be set primarily in Minnesota and at least one of the lead characters from the first two seasons is expected to appear. But we wouldn’t be shocked if that number was higher.

Hawley also hinted that two of next season’s leads will be women: the chief of police and an officer outside of her division.

Fargo season 3 is expected to begin filming later this year for 2017 premiere on FX.
