‘Civil War II’ Cover Homage Teases Death on Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’

Someone is going to die in the season finale of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and we’ve already seen it happen! In the midseason premiere, we caught a glimpse of a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent bleeding out in space, and Daisy Johnson saw that same image in her vision of the future.

While the victim has yet to be revealed on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel is getting downright cheeky about the upcoming fatality. Via IGN, Marvel has revealed an extremely limited cover of Civil War II # 0 that features Daisy looking at the faces of the potential victims in a way that any comic book fan should recognize.

Need another hint? Fine. It’s the iconic cover of Amazing Spider-Man # 121, the issue that infamously killed off Spider-Man’s girlfriend, Gwen Stacy.

We can make a reasonable guess about who will die on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. without looking to see who’s in the Gwen position on this cover. It won’t be any of Daisy’s Secret Warriors, because the audience doesn’t care about them. The only way that this death will sting is if the victim is somebody that the fans love.

Daisy and Coulson are out of the running because the show revolves around them. Melinda May is probably also safe, since she gets most of the action scenes. That leaves Fitz, Simmons, and Mac as the most likely agents to get bumped off. Although, if the show wants to kill off Lincoln, we would support that!
