Exclusive Video | Laughter, Fear and Freedom ’90 with Jason Mitchell

“I want to scare the crap out of somebody. I really do.” So says actor Jason Mitchell, the star of last year’s breakout drama Straight Outta Compton and this year’s awesome kitty comedy Keanu. Jason Mitchell is stretching his muscles on camera, and he doesn’t just want to make you laugh and cry, he wants to freak you the hell out.

Which is kind of funny, since Jason Mitchell is a cool and likable dude. I sat down the actor at the junket for Keanu to talk about how he develops a serious character in a not very serious film, and the important lesson about comedy he learned from Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, aka “Key and Peele.”

And just because it’s awesome, I also asked Jason Mitchell for his favorite George Michael song, and recited it back to him like a freakin’ poet.

Keanu claws its way into theaters on April 29, 2016.
