Prince fans, good luck keeping the eyes dry on this one. Tributes to the fallen icon have been arriving in torrents since the news broke of Prince’s passing yesterday at his Paisley Park studios, aged 57. Last night, following remembrances from President Obama, Questlove, Frank Ocean, Drake and plenty more, artists including the cast of Hamilton, Jennifer Hudson and the cast of The Color Purple, Chris Cornell and many others performed Prince covers to celebrating/mourning crowds around the entire world. DJ Premier also performed an hourlong Prince tribute set, while an all-night dance party in honor of the Purple One was still going strong at publish time – nearly 8am the following day.
