The First ‘Doctor Strange’ Trailer is Trippy as Hell

The first trailer for Marvel Studios’ first supernatural superhero movie Doctor Strange premiered on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight, but that hardly matters since it was also officially released online. So that didn’t matter. What DID matter is that our first look at Doctor Strange is one of the most mind-blowing trailers Marvel has ever released, offering audiences an initial glimpse at a reality-warping blockbuster starring Benedict Cumberbatch who, if we’re not mistaken, sounds like he’s impersonating Hugh Laurie’s American accent from House M.D.

Marvel Studios fans are also probably paying close attention to the film’s promise of multiple realities, a topic that could open up multiple doors to alternate versions of popular characters, crossovers between other franchises (assuming Marvel takes the bait, of course) and is also probably hinting at the location of the next Infinity Stone. We still haven’t seen the Reality Stone or the Soul Stone, after all, and they’re bound to show up before Thanos assembles them all together in the all-powerful Infinity Gauntlet in the upcoming two-part event Infinity War: Parts I and II.

So take a gander at Doctor Strange, directed by Scott Derrickson (Sinister), who appears to have gone overboard with the hallucinogenic imagery in classic Steve Ditko fashion. The Doctor isn’t in yet but come back to theaters on November 4, 2016.
