“Cristiano Ronaldo Will Not Be Returning to Manchester United,” Claims His Agent

As is typically the case whenever Real Madrid endure a notable run of poor form, speculation has started to mount regarding Cristiano Ronaldo’s potential departure from the club, and the inevitable claim that he will soon return to Manchester United has already been circulated.

However, while Ronaldo has always been wary to refute rumours regarding him joining the Premier League once again (presumably out of respect for United’s fans), this time his agent has stepped us to the plate to prevent said reports from gaining any traction. While the Portuguese star has been linked to both Man U and PSG following Madrid’s 4-0 humiliation at the hands of Barcelona, Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has shut down speculation regarding a potential move away from Madrid, telling French television show Canal Football Club (via the Express):  “It is impossible. He will end his career at Real Madrid.”

Man U manager Louis van Gaal had previously claimed that the club would “wait and hope” for Ronaldo to return, though Mendes’ comment suggest that they could be waiting for a long time.

However, many personalities in the football world have claimed that Ronaldo will leave Madrid, with them citing irreconcilable differences between the player and manager Rafael Benitez. It has been reported that Ronaldo has offered the club an ultimatum whereby he will stay with the club is Benitez is ousted, though club president Florentino Perez has stated that Benitez has their “support and confidence”.
