First Look | Superman: American Alien # 1

Everyone knows Superman’s origin story…or do they?

Chronicle screenwriter Max Landis is writing a new seven issue miniseries entitled Superman: American Alien that promises to be a very different take on Superman’s classic origin. He’s still Clark Kent, and he was still raised by Jon and Martha Kent in Kansas. But anything beyond that is wide open!

DC Comics has released the first preview of Superman: American Alien # 1, with art by Nick Dragotta. And the preview catches up on the harrowing first night that 12 year old Clark Kent discovered that he could fly. But getting down proves to be problematic, especially for Clark’s mother!

Dragotta also provided the cover image above, while Ryan Sook did the variant cover below.

Subsequent issues of Superman: American Alien will feature an all-star lineup of comic artists each issue, including Tommy Lee Edwards, Joëlle Jones, Jae Lee, Francis Manapul. Jonathan Case, and Jock.

Superman: American Alien # 1 will land in comic book stores on November 11, 2015.
