David Beckham Set for Return to Football… and Manchester United’s Old Trafford

David Beckham is set to return to the pitch for a charity match, where he will captain a Great Britain and Ireland squad managed by his former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, with the match set to held at Man U’s Old Trafford stadium.

Beckham made the announcement on Facebook, writing: “I never thought that I would be putting my boots back on but it’s for a great cause, the incredible work of UNICEF for children.

“I’m honoured to be playing at Old Trafford again, captaining a Great Britain & Ireland team managed by the great Sir Alex Ferguson against a Rest of the World side captained by my friend Zidane and managed by the legend, Carlo Ancelotti.”

Beckham retired from football in May 2013 at Paris Saint-Germain, bringing an end to a career that saw him take up pivotal roles in clubs ranging from Man U, to Real Madrid, to MLS outfit LA Galaxy.
