WATCH: Daniel Radcliffe in First Look at BBC GTA Drama ‘The Gamechangers’

Check out the trailer for the forthcoming BBC drama The Gamechangers, based on the story of Rockstar Games and the rise of their iconic game and the fastest selling entertainment title in history Grand Theft Auto starring Harry Potter‘s Daniel Radcliffe. Radcliffe plays Sam Houser, the genius behind the games inception.

The drama will follow Radcliffe’s Houser and fellow co-founders of Rockstar as they are pitched against Christian lawyer Jack Thompson, played by Bill Paxton. It was Thompson who lead the charge to ban the game for it’s graphic depictions of violence and sex, the movie focusing on the court battle itself.

However it was in May that Rockstar launched action against the BBC over trademark infringement, the broadcaster not gaining authorisation from the gaming company, as their press release makes explicit.

“This drama is for an adult audience and has not been authorised by the producers of Grand Theft Auto. Rather, it is based on court documents and interviews with many of those involved in the real events behind this compelling story,” reads the release.

Written by James Wood (Rev, Ambassadors), directed by Owen Harris (Kill Your Friends, Black Mirror, Holy Flying Circus) and produced by Jim Spencer (Pride, All Stars, Monsters) The Gamechangers airs on BBC2 at 9pm 15th September with no word yet as to when or where we may see it internationally.
