Jon Stewart Turned Heel At WWE’s SummerSlam Event

Last night, Jon Stewart shed his “good guy” act and embraced villainy during WWE’s annual SummerSlam event.

For Stewart, this was his first gig since stepping down from hosting The Daily Show on Comedy Central. And at the beginning of SummerSlam, he told the crowd that he was glad to be back in reality. Stewart also shared the ring with WWE legend Mick Foley for a comedy segment before the event officially got underway.

Earlier this year, Stewart had a scripted feud with WWE Champion Seth Rollins that extended into a surprise appearance by Rollins on The Daily Show. Stewart repaid the favor by guest starring on Monday Night RAW and kicking Rollins in his crotch.

But perhaps that was all a ruse. In Rollins’ title vs. title match against U.S. Champion John Cena, Stewart entered the ring and struck Cena with a metal chair, allowing Rollins to get the win and both titles.

This angle was probably planned because Cena recently broke his nose and he needs time to recover. But it was a glorious heel turn by Stewart. The only thing that would have made it more hilarious is if he revealed that he was also wearing a Fox News shirt and he joined his former hated rivals.

Also on SummerSlam, Arrow star Stephen Amell emerged victorious alongside Neville in their tag team match against Stardust and King Barrett. On twitter, Amell proudly showed off his bruises from the match.

The main event of SummerSlam featured wrestling icon, The Undertaker facing former UFC and WWE Champion Brock Lesnar for the first time since Lesnar defeated Undertaker at WrestleMania 30. This time, Undertaker came out on top in a controversial finish. Perhaps this will lead to another match between at WrestleMania next year.
