KISS Will Perform At This Year’s Grand Final AFL Footy Show

Good news, sports fans! (We’ve always wanted to say that). You wanted the best? You got the best! (OK, we’ll stop). Detroit rock legends KISS have just been announced to perform at this year’s AFL Grand Final instalment of The Footy Show.

Punters decked out in their team’s battle colours for the Logie Award-winning program’s annual warm-up to the big decider will likely get some competition from the KISS Army, with rock and roll’s Painted Ones set to perform two of their classic hits during the broadcast on October 1st, live from Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena.

It’s an epic coup for the Australian Football League, who can now lay claim to hosting KISS’s debut Australian performance for 2015, with the Footy Show gig kicking off the veteran band’s landmark 40th Anniversary Australian tour.

“I’ve loved Australia since the very first time I visited,” Singer/Starchild Paul Stanley says. “It is one of the greatest secrets on earth and probably better to keep it that way. The food, wine and women are all extraordinary and everyone has always welcomed me and made me feel like it is home.”

And it seems the Knights In Satan’s Service have a special love for Melbourne in particular. As well as rejigging the Down Under leg of their Anniversary tour so that it now kicks off in the Victorian capital with the Grand Final AFL Footy Show (up yours, Perth!), the band have also recently added an extra Melbourne date to the trek as well as outlining plans to open up their own KISS-themed restaurant there.

While KISS have been named to perform on The Grand Final AFL Footy Show on Thursday, 1st October, the AFL has yet to announce its annual pre-game entertainment choice for the match itself on Saturday, October 3rd.

More than one thousand punters have now signed a petition, calling on the Australian sporting body to make the Grand Final pre-match entertainment homegrown again.
