Fans gathered to watch the Pale Emperor himself play a Sidewave at The Tivoli in Brisbane last night were treated to a very special surprise when actor Johnny Depp appeared on stage and joined Marilyn Manson on guitar for a rendition of ‘The Beautiful People’.

In town filming the next instalment in the Pirates Of The Carribean franchise, Pirates Of The Carribean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Depp took some time from his schedule to join his old friend on guitar at the Brisbane Sidewave, much to the delight of the audience, and the internet. See fan-shot footage and photos below.

Manson and Depp have been friends for years and have performed together on stage numerous times. Most recently, Depp, Manson and Die Antwoord’s Ninja performed together at The Roxy in West Hollywood.

With so many acts in Australia for both Soundwave Festivals and other headline tours, it’s been a week filled with surprise on stage collaborations. Just this week, Foo Fighters were joined in Sydney by Rage Against The Machine drummer Brad Wilk for a cover of Van Halen’s Ain’t Talkin’ ’bout Love, while former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way jumped on stage with Rise Against to play the Misfits classic Astro Zombies.

Marilyn Manson continues his Soundwave tour at the festivals in Brisbane and Sydney this weekend. Meanwhile, fans should get used to seeing Johnny Depp on stage given he’s recently formed a supergroup with Alice Cooper and Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry.

Tonight we saw Johnny Depp play with Marilyn Manson then our friend’s car got towed.
