The announcement was made by Minecraft developer Mojang today through an interactive, humorous game on the company’s website, which you can play through right here.

Telltale will be collaborating with Mojang and members of the Minecraft community in order to create the game, which is set to be released at some point in 2015.  It will be titled Minecraft: Story Mode, and Telltale has said that they’re not intended on creating an official story for the game’s default player-character “Steve,” nor are they looking to explain the Minecraft world in great detail.

Telltale released a statement about the game, saying: “Set in the world of Minecraft, the series will feature an original story, driven by player choice. It will not be an add-on for Minecraft, but rather a separate stand-alone product that will premiere in 2015 on consoles, computers and mobile devices.

“Telltale’s game series will mix new characters with familiar themes, in an entirely original Minecraft experience, inspired by the Minecraft community and the game that continues to inspire a generation.”

The game is set to be released on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Mac, iOS and Android.
