Spotify Teams With Uber To Take The Party on The Road

Taylor Swift’s latest ex-boyfriend Spotify and beleaguered car service Uber have announced a partnership deal which allows users to listen to music from their Spotify accounts over the stereo on Uber rides. In related news, Uber drivers now hate every one of us.

Is it necessary? Absolutely not. But the service allows users to connect their Spotify account to the Uber app, request a ride, and get matched to Spotify-enabled Ubers. When the car arrives, you can hop in and take over radio command, playing Fartbarf and Diarrhea Planet to your heart’s delight as your driver fights the urge to floor it and drive at high speeds directly into a building.

“Seriously man, fucking stop it with that. I’m about to crash this thing. Don’t push me.”

As long as you’ve got a Spotify Premium account, you can force your sonic preference on the driver, as well as other riders. It’ll make a great experiment in social observation, to see how many riders will flat-out fuck with drivers by playing the worst possible selections Spotify has to offer. And if your imagination is lacking, Uber also now has their own curated Spotify playlists, ready to go.

The service will launch on November 21 in ten cities: New York, London, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, Mexico City, Nashville, Singapore, Stockholm, and Sydney. To sweeten the deal, artists such as “little dick” Diplo, Andrew “seriously, I’m still a celebrity even though I had one shitty song 14 years ago” W.K., Matt and Kim and more will participate in live sessions and ride-alongs in some of these cities.
