Realizing that criticizing the floppy-haired idols would likely lead to her receiving a barrage of death threats, as has become customary for anyone on the internet who dares to get on the wrong side of angsty “Directioners,” Williams posted a follow-up tweet:

Needless to say, One Direction fans have been overwhelmed with existential trauma, as they have been forced to consider that their dough-eyed objects of pubescent lust have committed a wrongdoing by another cute-as-a-button teen idol. For these 11-15 year-olds the world is collapsing in on itself, and for New Found Glory fans they’ve been forced to consider that one of their favorite band’s most popular songs has been appropriated for a boyband.

Everyone loses in this story.
