Slash, Train To Play NRL Grand Final

Former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash and Drops of Jupiter hit-makers Train will provide the stellar pre-game entertainment during the NRL grand final at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium on Oct. 5.

As News Limited reports, Slash will return Down Under next month to launch his latest album as Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, World on Fire. The top-hatted rock and roll icon told the outlet “it’s going to be awesome” to return to Australia.

The guitarist, who features in a recent Channel Nine spot promoting the NRL finals, will make an appearance at the Rolling Stone Live Lodge in Melbourne for an intimate Q&A session on Oct. 1, before heading north to rock ANZ Stadium. He and the band will then return in February for an appearance on the Soundwave Festival tour.

As The Guardian reports, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee will be joined by Train, best known for hits like Hey Soul Sister, which have scored the San Franciscan rockers three Grammy Awards. The band’s seventh album, Bulletproof Picasso, is set to drop next week.

The arrival of both acts will come amid a week of celebrations that lead to the grand final, with details set to be announced by the NRL in the coming days.
