Sony E-Mail Indicates That Silent Hills isn’t PS4 Exclusive

Neofz, an Italian site, has published an e-mail that it received from Sony which shows several PS4 games. Every title we know to be exclusive to PS4, such as The Order: 1886 and Bloodborne, is marked as such, but P.T. is missing such a label.

P.T. is a playable teaser for what will eventually be Silent Hills, an upcoming Silent Hill game headed by Guillermo Del Toro and Hideo Kojima.

Although Silent Hills was discussed this week during a Gamescom presentation by Kojima himself, details were very limited. Little is known other than it is in-fact a Silent Hill title, will be scary as hell, and will star Norman Reedus. There’s been no indication that it’ll be exclusive on PlayStation platforms.

Several previous iterations in the franchise have been exclusive at debut, only to later release on PC and the Xbox family of consoles. Konami is a third-party publisher, so the only reason it would pursue an exclusive partnership is if there was a lot of money in the deal, similar to Microsoft’s Rise of the Tomb Raider deal.

P.T. has been one of the most discussed gaming topics of the week, particularly due to its excellent delivery and bone-chilling atmosphere. As such, it’s reasonable to think that Silent Hills holds a lot of weight. Given how early it’s in development, there’s still opportunity for an exclusive deal to be made. Whether or not that happens will depend on if Sony and Konami feel it’d be in their best interests.
