Brett Kissel Receives The Most CCMA Noms For 2014

Brett Kissel received eight Canadian Country Music Award nominations, the CCMA announced via press release yesterday. Dean Brody and Gord Bamford came in second and third with six and five noms respectively.

Kissel, whose previously-won awards include Junos, Canadian Radio Music Awards, Edmonton Music Awards, as well as being an ACMA winner, recently announced a cross-Canada tour with Brad Paisley. The Flat Lake, Alberta native has released a total of five studio albums, including Started with a Song, which came out in October of last year.

This year’s Canadian Country Music Awards are being hosted by political funnyman Rick Mercer (“The Rick Mercer Report”) and Canadian songstress Jann Arden, and it will air on Sunday, September 7th at 8pm on CBC. “To say I am excited about co-hosting the CCMA Awards is an understatement,” Arden said in a press release. “Reuniting with Rick Mercer to celebrate the very best of Canadian country music is going to be an amazing adventure filled with lots of laughs and a whole lot of surprises!”

“I’m thrilled to be co-hosting the CCMA Awards with Jann Arden. Jann is one of my favourite people,” says Mercer. “Usually when Jann and I get together it involves a helmet or harness, this time it’s country music and cowboy hats – although it’s too soon to rule out helmets.”
