New Fatal Frame Announced… Exclusively for Wii U

Nintendo has announced through Famitsu that a new Fatal Frame is in the works for Wii U. No additional details have been announced, but a live-action film series is on the way as well. Tecmo Koei feels it’s time to expand on the Fatal Frame universe.

This is exactly the sort of thing the Wii U needs, a game for mature audiences that can tap into the unique potential of the Wii U GamePad. ZombiU delivered some memorable scares with GamePad back when the Wii U launched… a year and a half ago. It’s been a long time since.

The Fatal Frame franchise has been hailed as one of the most terrifying, placing players in control of a young woman who can only defend herself from evil spirits by taking photos of them. Sound scary? It is.

Unfortunately, the last game never released outside of Japan, so this announcement means little for those who aren’t into importing games. At the very least it’s a good thing Fatal Frame is still alive and well.
