Coachella 2014 Interview: Big Gigantic

The dance-inducing dynamic duo of Dominic Lalli and Jeremy Salken, better known as Big Gigantic, made their Coachella debut last weekend with a spectacular performance in support of their new album The Night Is Young. Bringing saxophone and live drums to the stage, the guys delivered a beat-blizzard EDM showcase in the Sahara Tent that’s guaranteed to elicit return invites from promoters – and that was before they brought out a 30-piece marching band.

The guest performers during “I Need a Dollar” and “Can’t Hold Us” were students at Shadow Hills High School in the surrounding Indio district, a marching band featuring brass, woodwinds, a drum line and even a flag team. The overload of musicians playing on a beat-backdrop was a mindblowing experience for the wide-eyed revelers in attendance, and a definite highlight of the weekend.

We caught up with Dominic and Jeremy shortly before their Coachella 2014 set to discuss the surprise they had in store, as well as what makes the Coachella experience such a different one from the rest of the U.S. Summer festivals.
