Hip-Hop Coloring Book Features Lil Wayne, Minaj, Tupac & more

With all these silly beefs and spats weaving through HIp-Hop, it’s a refreshing bit of silly to stumble on Bun B and writer Shea Serrano’s collaborative creation Bun B’s Jumbo Coloring and Rap Activity Tumblr, a printable coloring book that’s a damn sight more badass than the crayon targets we grew up with.

Bun B who was one-half of the rap duo UGK, conceived and curates the site, while Serrano draws portraits of well-known rappers, with readers invited to fill in the color.

“We’re trying to be true to the artist, and make it a fun experience for everybody,” Bun tells Page Views. “We thought this was the best way to get the word out, and eventually we want this to get to print.”

The roster is strong on the artist coloring book, with names including Nicki Minaj, Tupac, Lil Wayne, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar, among others. Eventually the two hope to turn their creations into a book, and possibly a mixtape with the artists featured in the pages.

“We’re happy that people are curious,” Serrano says. “I didn’t think that it would take off as fast as it did.”

It’s not all pre-school fun, however. The duo add a link to a song for each page. “We’d like to hook people in to making good music,” Bun B says. “Some people may not necessarily know the artist, and it gets them closer to the experience.”

“These are guys we respect, and we’re just trying to pay homage to them,” Serrano said. Tell that to the eyebrow-less Drake, however:

Creepy as hell? Yes.

In the meantime, get ready for some new pages for the holiday season. So color in your favorite rappers, and upload your art to the site for possible publication!
