Watch Kanye West’s First ‘VOYR’ Episode

Kanye West took to Twitter last night to post a link to the first installment of the VOYR platform. A video that loads is a mini-doc of the Watch The Throne outfitted with West’s narration, which lays out some silky prose about who he wants at his funeral (“I want world leaders to be affected”) and how he wants to be remembered.

“Ok, I’m doing music, but there’s a bigger plan for me. It’s like, I wasn’t given this power for no reason. And now it’s starting to open up.”

Check out the first installment over at VOYR.

For $5 a month, VOYR offers members a virtual all-access pass to exclusive, behind-the-scenes content from their favorite big-name acts, with among the most high-profile names one could ask for kicking off the service: Kanye West. Fans who check out the VOYR site can see an in-studio glimpse of the making of his Jay-Z collaboration album Watch The Throne.

VOYR is helping make the run of Kanye’s Watch The Throne shows (read our review of Watch The Throne) with Jay-Z the world’s first interactive concert tour. Registered members can watch exclusive live webcasts, among other exclusive content.

According to Rolling Stone, Kanye’s channel will include “his exercise routine, instructional videos by his personal chef, a Watch the Throne concert experience, rehearsals for the show, a documentary self-centeredly titled “Me,” and an animated series called “Runaway.”” We should’ve seen this coming. It’s utterly self-indulgent, totally ridiculous and over the top, and it’s actually pretty awesome.

This first installment sets a high-level pace, with tons of behind the scenes footage and quoteworthy nuggets from Ye.

“If people have done things before, you should be able to surpass them. It’s like, I’m on a pursuit of awesomeness. Excellence is the bare minimum.”
