Viola Davis Used To Eat Maggots For Dinner

Maggots > Crest White Strips

Viola Davis was honored at Variety’s Power of Women event for her work with the Hunger Is Campaign, then she brought the whole damn room down.

“I was one of the 17 million kids in this country who didn’t know where the next meal was coming from, and I did everything to get food,” shared the “How to Get Away with Murder” actress. “I have stolen for food,” added the mother of one. “I have jumped in huge garbage bins with maggots for food. I have befriended people in the neighborhood, who I knew had mothers who cooked three meals a day for food, and I sacrificed a childhood for food and grew up in immense shame.”

I’m not going to get into the fact that we supposedly live in the greatest country in the world, but we have people diving in dumpsters for food, because making sure people living in abject poverty have enough to eat is anti-christ socialism and worse than converting to Islam. Great job, America! But I can totally relate to the sense of immense shame Viola feels. I’ve had a Creed song stuck in my head for two days now. I’m six feet from the edge and I’m thinkin. Maybe six feet ain’t so far down oh god make it stop.
