Sneaker culture is ripe with style and artistry, from the largest companies to the independent brands. In some of the most recent efforts, a U.K. company named FreakerSNEAKS did some downright awesome customization to a classic pair of Michael Jordan’s famed sneakers.

The Jordan NES 4 (Nintendordans?) was designed by Jonny Barry, an artist with a knack for coming up with some sleek sneaker designs using video games throughout the years.

Johnny came up with these after teasing a preview with a message of nostalgia. “My childhood,” said the caption on one of FreakerSNEAKS’ posts on Instagram.

The Air Jordan 4 is a classic sneaker that Jordan wore back in 1989, which is the heyday of the old NES system that featured games like Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt, as you can see from the tongues on the shoes.

With the Nintendo theme attached to a classic pair of J’s, these sneaks prove to be a throwback in more ways than one. You can even press the D-pad and buttons on the back of the sneakers.

This isn’t the first time FreakerSNEAKS has customized some hot shoes that bring the kid out in all of us. Jonny and his company have a habit of taking old school Jordans and mashing them up with video games and their systems.
