Aesop Rock (aka Ian Bavitz) has been at the center of the underground hip hop scene since A$AP Rocky was still reading Aesop’s fables. Just sayin’.

The longtime producer and MC has done just about everything in indie rap since breaking out with Music for Earthworms back in 1997. About the only thing Aesop Rock hasn’t checked off the bucket list was a film score — that is until now.

Crave is exclusively premiering “Corner Store”, a gritty, instrumental ditty off the forthcoming film soundtrack for Bushwickan action movie (out in theaters and VOD August 25), directed by Cary Murnion and Jonathan Milott about Texas invading Brooklyn and starring Brittany Snow and Guardians of the Galaxy’s Dave Bautista.

Here’s what Aesop Rock had to say about why he decided to collaborate on Bushwick, “Cary and John approached me at the perfect time with a project that was different enough from my norm to be interesting, while also being something I felt wasn’t entirely outside of my wheelhouse. I loved the script, I’m from New York, and had lived in Bushwick long ago.”

Aesop Rock will celebrate Bushwick’s premiere with an exclusive performance at New York’s Music Hall of Williamsburg on August 23, accompanied by Rob Sonic and DJ Zone.
